Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 22:<\/strong> Exports of \u00a0Cotton textile products such as Made-ups ((including home textiles), Fabrics and Yarns have\u00a0reached US $13.95\u00a0billion from April 2021 to February\u00a02022, surpassing\u00a0the Government\u2019s target of US$\u00a012.50\u00a0billion.\u00a0In a statement\u00a0today, Shri Manoj Patodia, Chairman of The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council ( TEXPROCIL), said, \u201c\u00a0Exports of Cotton textiles have exceeded the target by 102% in 11 months itself\u00a0which is a landmark achievement in the history of cotton textile exports \u00a0\u201c.<\/p>\n

Chairman, TEXPROCIL \u00a0expressed his\u00a0sincere thanks\u00a0to\u00a0the Hon\u2019ble Prime Minister \u00a0\u00a0ShriNarendraModiji for his\u00a0visionary leadership\u00a0and\u00a0support to the textiles industry\u00a0and for the historic steps taken by the Government by extending the\u00a0RoSCTL scheme for Made-ups\u00a0and Garments for three years till March\u00a031, 2024, and by covering the entire value chain of textile products under the RODTEP scheme. \u00a0These schemes reimburse the incidence of duties & taxes, including embedded taxes incurred on the export products, thereby making them more competitive, pointed out Shri Patodia.<\/p>\n

The Chairman, TEXPROCIL, also expressed his sincere thanks to Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon\u2019ble Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, \u00a0Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, for his directions and continuous engagement with the exporters that has led to this exponential growth in exports of cotton textile.<\/p>\n

The Chairman, TEXPROCIL, also expressed his thanks to Smt Darshana Jardosh, Minister of State for Textiles, for her encouragement which she has always given to the textile sector.<\/p>\n

Shri Manoj Patodia pointed out that there is an increase in exports of all the products in the cotton textiles value chain.<\/p>\n

Shri Patodia expressed his confidence that with the extension of the Interest Equalization Scheme, the Historic signing of the Indo UAE FTA in record 88 days, fast-tracking of FTAs with the UK, GCC, Australia and Canada, and the Government initiatives on Ease of Doing Business and Infrastructural & logistics development, exports of cotton textiles will\u00a0continue to be on the growth trajectory.<\/p>\n

The Chairman, TEXPROCIL, however, appealed to the\u00a0Government to\u00a0consider\u00a0the removal of Customs duty on raw cotton and also to include Made ups in the scheme for duty-free imports of specified items that have been introduced in the Union Budget\u00a02022 for textile garments which will lead to significant growth in exports of Made-ups.<\/p>\n
