New Delhi [India], December 5:<\/strong> Royal Enfield Social Mission opened the second edition of Journeying Across The Himalayas<\/em>, its annual multidisciplinary festival aimed to celebrate and safeguard the cultural and natural heritage of Royal Enfield\u2019s spiritual home\u2014the Himalayas. The opening evening, held on December 4 at Travancore Palace, brought together artists, mountain communities, partners and audiences in a shared space of storytelling, expression and celebration.<\/p>\n

Anchored in this year\u2019s curatorial theme,\u00a0Ours To Tell<\/em>, the festival was inaugurated with opening remarks and a special address, followed by the\u00a0launch of\u00a0The Great Himalayan Exploration \u2013 The Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Eastern Himalayas<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>(a UNESCO \u00d7 Royal Enfield project) by\u00a0Bidisha Dey<\/em>, Executive Director, Eicher Group Foundation and\u00a0Tim Curtis<\/em>, Director and Representative, UNESCO Regional Office for South Asia. They were joined by folk music artist\u00a0Kuvelu Tetseo<\/em>\u00a0from Nagaland,\u00a0Kunzang Wangmo<\/em>\u00a0of Ladakh and rider-researcher\u00a0Maral Yazarloo<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The evening progressed with a dialogue on\u00a0Ours To Tell: Reclaiming Himalayan Narratives<\/em>\u00a0featuring Chiki Sarkar, Jamling Tenzing Norgay, Kelly Dorjee and Rigzin Wangmo Lachic, followed by performances by Tetseo Sisters and Jungle Vibes, culminating with a special set by Joi Barua, Lou Majaw, and Rudy Wallang. Curated dinner and cocktail pairings by Chef Doma Wang brought the evening to a close.<\/p>\n

Festival Highlights<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The festival brings together immersive exhibitions, installations, culinary journeys, workshops and performances co-created with Himalayan communities and collaborators. Audiences will encounter Ladakhi pashmina landscapes through the exhibit\u00a0Unwoven\/Spoken,<\/em>\u00a0the soundscapes and seasonal rituals of\u00a0Echoes of the East<\/em>, the living learning spaces of the\u00a0Hub of Many Heart(h)s<\/em>, through contemporary explorations by youth changemakers across fellowships supported by Royal Enfield Social<\/p>\n

Mission, helmet art installations and workshops by\u00a0Helmets for India<\/em>\u00a0and film screenings with DIFF on the Road. \u00a0The Himalayan Bazaar<\/em>\u00a0offers the chance to meet creators and artisans and to buy items spotlighting regional heritage and storytelling, while\u00a0Chouka<\/em>, the food and beverage area, offers a taste of Himalayan cooking. Together, these curations reflect the festival\u2019s commitment to preserving and celebrating the living traditions of the Himalayas.<\/p>\n

Ri Gyancha<\/em>, the snow leopard installation perched atop the palace roof, stands as a silent guardian of the highlands\u2014honouring Ladakh\u2019s \u201cjewel of the mountain\u201d.<\/p>\n

Stages inspired by Art & Architecture<\/strong><\/p>\n

The festival\u2019s performance and dialogue spaces draw deeply from Himalayan aesthetics. The\u00a0main stage<\/strong>, designed with motifs from Himachal\u2019s\u00a0Kath Kuni<\/em>\u00a0architecture, shifts through the day\u2014from cultural performances, theatre, culinary demonstrations and workshops to high-energy evening concerts spanning classic rock, indie, fusion, soul and electronic. Complementing this is the\u00a0Conversations Stage<\/strong>, framed by original artwork from Ladakh\u2019s celebrated contemporary artist Jigmet Angmo, offering a dynamic setting for talks, panels, community storytelling, textiles, heritage, ecology, responsible tourism, sports culture and more. The\u00a0Ritek Pavilion\u00a0<\/strong>by Vishal K. Dar further extends this narrative, reinterpreting the Adi community\u2019s traditional communal structure from Arunachal Pradesh into a contemporary space for gathering, reflection and shared experiences through films and conversations.<\/p>\n

Building on last year\u2019s debut, the 2025 edition unfolds across Travancore Palace through a series of interconnected venues and pavilions featuring immersive installations, exhibitions, culinary experiences, workshops, conversations, performances and community-led programming. Audiences and riders will also participate in the Celebration Ride during the festival, embodying Royal Enfield\u2019s Social Mission\u2014its commitment to partnering with 100 Himalayan communities and inspiring a million riders to explore sustainably.<\/p>\n

The festival runs until\u00a010 December 2025 at Travancore Palace, New Delhi<\/strong>, featuring programming that spans material and cultural innovation, craft, heritage, sustainability, responsible travel and performance\u2014co-created with communities and collaborators from across the Himalayas.<\/p>\n
