{"id":74007,"date":"2026-09-30T13:49:15","date_gmt":"2026-09-30T08:19:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newswiredelhi.com\/index.php\/2026\/09\/30\/kkr-to-invest-in-cisternina-to-build-pan-india-liquid-storage-and-logistics-platform\/"},"modified":"2026-09-30T13:49:15","modified_gmt":"2026-09-30T08:19:15","slug":"kkr-to-invest-in-cisternina-to-build-pan-india-liquid-storage-and-logistics-platform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newswiredelhi.com\/index.php\/2026\/09\/30\/kkr-to-invest-in-cisternina-to-build-pan-india-liquid-storage-and-logistics-platform\/","title":{"rendered":"KKR to invest in Cisternina to build pan-India liquid storage and logistics platform"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>New Delhi [India], September 30:<\/strong> Global investment firm <strong>KKR<\/strong> on Tuesday said it will make a <strong>majority investment in Cisternina Logistics Pvt Ltd<\/strong>, a bulk liquid and gas storage and logistics business in India.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">KKR said the investment will support Cisternina\u2019s proposed acquisition of the liquid storage terminal and rail business of <strong>Ganesh Benzoplast Limited (GBL)<\/strong>, which will serve as the platform\u2019s anchor asset, as well as its expansion through further acquisitions and the development of new storage infrastructure across India.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Established in <strong>2024<\/strong>, Cisternina will serve customers as an integrated platform across the <strong>energy, chemicals, bulk liquids and edible-oil sectors in India<\/strong>, it said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement said GBL\u2019s liquid storage terminal business operates one of India\u2019s leading privately owned tank farms, established at the <strong>Jawaharlal Nehru Port in the early 1990s<\/strong>, and today has a portfolio of approximately <strong>500,000 KL of operating and under-construction storage capacity<\/strong> across strategic ports like <strong>JNPT, Cochin and Goa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">India\u2019s coastal infrastructure handles approximately <strong>95% of the country\u2019s external trade by volume<\/strong>, while demand across key bulk-liquid categories is expected to grow steadily over the next decade, creating long-term demand for liquid storage and logistics infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement noted that the market remains fragmented, with relatively few scaled, professionally managed, multi-location operators.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cWith KKR\u2019s investment and infrastructure expertise, Cisternina plans to scale through acquisitions, brownfield expansion and greenfield development, while investing in management capabilities, governance, operating systems and safety standards,\u201d<\/em> it said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">KKR is making the investment through its <strong>Asia Pacific infrastructure strategy<\/strong>.
